A short description of the experience, background,
and activities of Sol Aisenberg, Ph.D
Sol Aisenberg holds a Ph.D. in physics from M.I.T. He also has held part time
appointments as a staff member at M.I.T., as a lecturer at Harvard Medical School, and
as a Visiting Research Professor in the Bioengineering Department of Boston University.
He has held long time positions as Principal Investigator on contracts from many
agencies.
He also has had line responsibility as General Manager and Division President
f a high technology division of Whittaker Corporation, and as President of a high
technology division of Gulf+Western.
From experience as a manager and officer in several large and small companies, he is
aware of the need for practical results and bottom line results.
He is President and founder of the International Technology Group (ITG), a Technology
and Information Company, and the Data Associates Division, which has been in operation,
including consulting, since 1987.
Dr. Aisenberg is a professional consultant, inventor, and scientist.
He makes inventions that are practical, which can result in strong patents, can meet
real market needs, and that use the lowest suitable technology.
He uses both high and low technology solutions.
For suitable requests, he will devise inventions "by request", at his own expense and
risk, (for potential licensing) and at no cost or obligations.
He is also involved in evaluating and improving the merits, worth, and validity of
Intellectual Property, technology, and patents for clients and for his own inventions.
He helps clients by finding legal patent loopholes, by improving the strength of patent
claims, and also helping in bypassing blocking patents.
Aisenberg consulted as senior advisor on Intellectual Property for major financial
information and global transaction companies, in order to identify their intellectual
property that is to be protected by additional patents.
He also has consulted for law firms in Washington, DC, in New York, in Boston, and in
Virginia on patent matters.
As a result Aisenberg is able to identify the technology that (a) can be patented,
(b) how to frequently bypass competitive patents, and (c) how to make his patents and
client patents bulletproof. He is able to teach this to employees of clients.
In addition to his own inventing for his own clients, Aisenberg is a Co-founder and
Vice-President of Invent Resources, Inc., a team of four independent professional,
experienced, and productive inventors who invent for clients on demand and at no cost.
He is also a co-founder of Intellectual Property Providers (IPP).
Aisenberg is a generalist and has many publications and patents in many areas of
activity, such as instrumentation, lasers, medical devices, electronics, electro-optics,
plasmas, ultra high vacuum, physical electronics, optics, artificial diamond material,
bio-engineering, bio-technology, energy systems, special materials, computers, video,
software development, special application software, and financial analysis.
He is a pioneer in the development and demonstration of diamond-like carbon, and
introduced this name to describe thin films of diamond produced without need for
hydrogen content.
He consults for international and domestic companies whose technologies and products he
feels are unusually worthwhile.
In this consulting he acts as a technology resource, business advisor, and practical
problem solver.
AFFILIATIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Dr. Aisenberg has over 134 publications, presentations, and reports plus a number of
invited talks.
He has over 23 U.S. patents issued, and many others pending.
He has seven IR-100 awards for important new products and an award for research in
Helium-Neon Lasers.
He is a reviewer for a number of technical journals, and has reviewed proposals for the
National Institute of Health and for the National Science Foundation.
He is a member of technology transfer organizations, including the Licensing Executives
Society, (LES), and the Technology Transfer Society, (TTS).
He is a past member of Board of Directors of the Society of Professional Consultants.
He served as Vice-chairman of the IEEE Boston Consultants Network and also on the
advisory group of the IEEE Boston Entrepreneurs Network.
He has presented invited lectures on diamond thin films, on inventing, on consulting,
and on technology transfer.
Aisenberg has been listed in editions of American Men of Science, Who's Who in the
World, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and Who's Who in Technology Today, among
others.
He is a member of Pi Mu Epsilon (math), Sigma Xi (science), and Phi Beta Kappa.
Aisenberg is a current or former member of many professional societies including the
American Physical Society, the APS Vacuum Society, the Materials Research Society, the
IEEE, Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), and Association for
Research in Vision and Optics (ARVO).
