Recommended computers
My experience has shown that Dell provides the best service when you need help and advice that you can get when you use one of their computers.
The cost of their computers is slightly higher but if you value your time and efficiency, it is worth it.
Although you can select and configure your computer for purchase over their web site, I prefer to order over the phone with a human being.
The best choice in my opinion is a Dell Dimension 4550 with the following:
* 512 Ram
* 40 Gigabyte hard drive (at least)
* CD-RW - rewritable CD drive
* A second CD drive - recommend DVD drive
* Iomega ZIP drive
* 3.5" Floppy drive

Recommended software utilities
Usually the new computers come with Windows XP already installed plus other utilities
You should add the following utilities (some are free and the others are worth the cost)
The free ones can be located by a Google search.
* Norton System Works
* Roxio Go Back
* Belarc Advisor (free) find using Google
* Copernic Agent Basic (free) good search engine
* A print screen utility

Recommended web browsers
Netscape 6.2 is an improvement over version 4.7x and is also free
Apparently there are less viruses sent through Netscape than through Windows browsers.
I also like to encourage alternate software providers

Recommended email services
The one I use and like is Earthlink. Others used in the past were not as good, and many have disappeared causing a need to arrange for replacements. Earthlink will survive and grow

Recommended web hosting
The service from valueweb.com is one of the best with good phone support and helpful screens.

Recommended Web Traffic Reporter If your web site is hosted on valueweb, you can get free use of the excellent web traffic reporting utility through your password access to valueweb. The traffic utility is "Urchin.com" and has many powerful features.

Recommended solutions for problems in the model of the universe
